Online dating is a good way to meet other singles these days.  Just the fact that people use those services indicates that they're single and looking.  However, not too many singles I talk to are big fans of online dating.  Two of the biggest complaints that I get are: "I don't get enough responses" and "I get too many replies from people I am not interested in."

Being a member of a few online dating sites myself a few years ago when I was single and having to look at many profiles of other people, one thing was clear to me: most profiles that I saw there were not effective enough.  The truth is, a profile that doesn't show a person authentically in his or her true self misleads other people. 

Whether you like it or not, when other people look at your photographs, they form expectations of what you look like. When they read your profile, they form an idea of what you are like as a person.  If any or both of these are misleading, your ideal guy will either pass you by or you will attract someone who is not your ideal match.
